ASI Flight Software and GN&C Subsystems Perform Flawless
Littleton, Colorado — July 14, 2014 — ORBCOMM successfully launched six next generation OG2 satellites aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida at 11:15 am EDT. The OG2 satellites were successfully separated from the Falcon 9 launch vehicle into the proper insertion orbit. The six satellites’ solar panels and antennas deployed properly, and they are connecting at ORBCOMM’s Gateway Earth Stations around the world. The satellites are expected to be providing full commercial M2M messaging and AIS services within 60 days of launch.
As a teammate of the satellite prime contractor, SNC, ASI delivered the Bus Flight Software and GN&C subsystems and provided critical support during design, integration & test, launch, and commissioning of the ORBCOMM OG2 Mission 1. ASI has been a critical teammate and provider since the start of the ORBCOMM Gen2 program in the fall of 2007.
